China's Greater Bay Area: Why it matters ?
- The Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) is a city cluster in southern China that the central government targets to shape into a world-class economic hub
- Economic development in the GBA will be driven by means of technological innovation and manufacturing upgrade, in an environmentally friendly fashion
- Policies will be introduced to facilitate the movement of financial and human capital across the border between the two special administrative regions (Hong Kong an Macao) and the rest of the GBA
- The GBA will give rise to ample investment opportunities in industries deemed strategically important to the country’s long-term economic interest (i.e. information technology, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials, etc.)
